Kasey Naish Bio
I live with my husband and daughter on the side of a hill overlooking a highway - not the most inspiring view, you’d think, but, you’d be wrong. Beyond that highway grows a field of tall tan coloured grasses, red dogwoods, blue-tinged evergreens and every shade of green you can imagine. And then it gets even better. The landscape turns blue.
Beyond the brush I can see Georgian Bay; a lake so massive, it becomes the sky on the other side. I live in cottage country, in Ontario, Canada, and I never get tired of looking at that view. Or painting it, as you can see by my work (it's a common theme). I've been a painter my whole life, but for almost 20 years of it, I worked as a graphic artist in the sign and truck lettering industry. Working in that industry taught me the art of sign design and really opened my eyes to the potential of computer generated art in general, not just in terms of signage. So, since leaving that job, I've continued to design logos, business cards, signs, posters, wedding invitations, a custom puzzle, flyers, web graphics; whatever gets thrown my way. |
These days, when I do work just for me, I regularly change my painting style to suit my mood, just to keep things interesting, which doesn't always bode well with others. Some don't like my latest work because it's not what they expect from me. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it because, well, not everyone liked the other stuff either. Of course, when I do work for clients, that's a different story. Then I aim to please.
In a perfect world, it should always come down to creation for creation's sake, even if it's not well received by others and no one gives me a cheque for it. But in a world of clients and pay cheques, I can still manage to do it for love.
And because it's fun.
